Some Kind of Heaven

Some Kind of Heaven in collaboration with J Davies at Sawtooth Ari (Launceston) 2026

Some Kind of Heaven is a collaborative installation by J Davies (Ngāti Te Awhitu, Ngāti Hauā) and Kyle Archie Knight (Wiradjuri), created for First Space in the Sawtooth shed. Through photography, projection, sound, and text, the work imagines a queer suburban-romance utopia from a First Nations perspective on unceded land. Gestures of intimacy, chosen family, and quiet domestic moments form an archive of closeness, while a layered suburban soundscape blurs public and private. The installation considers home as a shared act of care and resistance.
